It’s December! And as soon as the holidays are over, many of us will be thinking about New Year’s Resolutions (cue the groans).
Gretchen Rubin, the author of “The Happiness Project,” says the key to happiness is ultimately boiled down to one simple concept — habits. Good habits lead to more happiness, and eliminating bad habits makes room for more good habits. She further claims all desirable habits fall into seven essential categories. And, because a New Year’s Resolution most likely also boils down to creating a good habit (or eliminating a bad one), I thought I would share the “7 Essentials” and offer ways the Club can help you in each of the categories.
1. Eat and/or drink more healthfully
Of course, the Cafe has many great healthy options (have you tried the Raw Veggie Wrap? So good!), but why not take it a step further and take full advantage of the water station?
2. Exercise regularly
Golf more. Take up tennis. Try our yoga classes. Sign up for lap swim.
3. Save, spend and earn wisely
Want to save hundreds of dollars on your monthly dues each month? Refer, refer, refer! If one of those contacts in your address book becomes a member, you get a credit. Refer a new member each month, and your membership is practically free. Now that is wise!
4. Rest, relax & enjoy
Take a night off of cooking and let our kitchen and staff serve you!
5. Stop procrastinating; make consistent progress
Have you been meaning to improve your golf or tennis game? Sign up for lessons with our pros. Make consistent progress toward that Player of the Year award!
6. Simplify, clear & organize
Organize your calendar. Start with our Club calendar (at the back of the newsletter), and add the events, classes and tournaments you don’t want to miss.
7. Engage more deeply
Bring your friends and family to the Club for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a social event. Invite a guest to a round of golf, or a game of tennis. Or, seek out our new members and invite them to coffee.
Do you make resolutions? I’d love to hear your ideas for ways we can all use the Club to make 2017 our healthiest, happiest year yet!
